About AMC Removals & Storage

We started out as a family business founded in 1969 to help people who wanted their belongings to be treated carefully when they were being moved. This ethos is still the same, we’re here to help and take care. Whether people are moving office or home, their concerns are the same – they don’t want their possessions to get lost or broken – it’s simple really. From domestic moves within Ireland to International moves to the USA, Australia and beyond, AMC takes care of the move, and can provide safe storage if needed.

From DMC and Beyond to AMC

DMC (now known as ‘AMC’) was established by an enterprising small-business man, auctioneer Denis Mc McCarthy. DMC was established for Irish and UK deliveries and the business has continued to grow and expand. What is now known as AMC was taken over by son Aubrey when it was renamed AMC removals Ltd. AMC are continuously adding to their fleet, new facilities, and focusing on achieving the highest levels of professionalisms among the AMC staff as all AMC staff are bar trained. They have the highest standards of packing and removal skills. One of the major undertakings in recent years was for AMC to become fully accredited members of FIDI.

Our Customers

MD Aubrey McCarthy explains that despite the growth and expansion of the business, “we’ve never lost the focus on the customer. AMC has held onto the personal, family touch that has characterised the business since my father Denis first established it. AMC has never lost our reputation for friendly approachable service.”

AMC takes all the hassle, worry and stress away from their customers, caused by moving, and makes the transition as smooth as possible. The aim is to work around the customers’ needs by providing a full pack, part pack and unpack services if required.

We have a broad customer base from households and commercial businesses. Our past customers have included past Taoisaigh, Presidents, Celebrities such as composer Andrew Lloyd Weber, International Ambassadors and companies such as: Paypal, KPMG, The Central Bank, Aldi Headquarters, The Merrion Hotel, IRFU, FAI, Cantor Fitzgerald, Hedgeserv, Deloitte, Grant Thornton and many many more.

AMC Gives Back

Aubrey, along with AMC, has a strong personal commitment to helping the community. So much so that Aubrey was recently awarded a Rehab Person of the year award for his and his company’s support in making a difference to vulnerable peoples lives in the community. As a company, AMC is passionate about corporate social responsibility and AMC has a strong link with a number of charities:

Who We Have Helped

Tiglin

Tiglin’s aim is to provide individuals with an effective and comprehensive solution to life-controlling addiction problems. Tiglin endeavors to help people become mentally sound, emotionally balanced, socially adjusted, physically well, and spiritually alive. Aubrey set up this charity and it has grown greatly since it was first established. Aubrey is now chairman of Tiglin.

Naas Food Bank

Naas food banks puts together food/care packages and distributes them to those in need within our area. ‘AMC donate greatly to this cause’.

No Bucks Cafe

The bus was donated to Tiglin Challenge Ireland in 2009 by ‘AMC and converted to the ‘No bucks’ mobile café. The ‘No bucks’ mobile café is now used to serve people and offer help in any way we can physically, socially, emotionally, or spiritually.

The aims of No Bucks Cafes are:

  • To provide food, clothing, blankets, etc for the homeless.
  • To build relationships and friendships with people on the streets.
  • To provide a safe & welcoming environment for people to share their life stories should they so desire.
  • To introduce and make people aware of services available to them in their vicinity, including centers similar to the Tiglin Challenge rehabilitation centres.
  • To share the good news of the life of Jesus Christ, with the aim of lifting up those that are downcast.

Thursday nights are a busy and exciting night for staff and volunteers of the Tiglin Challenge. The women at the centre in ‘Teach Shechem’ prepare sandwiches and flasks of tea and coffee for the bus. Our faithful drivers set out on the bus to meet the team of volunteers in Dublin city centre where we take time to prepare for the night ahead. ‘No bucks’ mobile cafe then parks on Marlboro St. opposite the Pro-Cathedral at 8 pm where we usually have our regular customers waiting there for us, who love to come and sit on the ‘party bus’ as they like to call it!

Aubrey recently launched the new ‘No Bucks Cafe’ with RTE presenter Ryan Tubridy at the RTE studios.

DCM – “The Lighthouse”

Aubrey is also the chairman od DCM which runs youth projects in disadvantaged areas of Dublin and provides transitional housing to people in need. They also operate a homeless café in Pearse street which provides meals to those in need each weekday

Going the extra mile

We were extremely pleased with the packing, collection, storage and redelivery service from AMC Removals.

In a difficult move with several delays and changes of date moves, AMC staff were very accommodating, courteous and professional. When I was stressed, they were calm and re-assuring! We left our goods safely stored at AMC Storage Facility for several months until we finally moved into our new home. Thank you, AMC, for going the extra mile.
